A Midlothian pensioner was left speechless yesterday (23 April), when all of her neighbours serenaded her with 'Happy Birthday' on her doorstep right after the weekly Clap For Carers show of support to the NHS and other key workers during the coronavirus lockdown.
Hannah (80) from Penicuik, nicknamed Tiny and much loved in her local community, was overwhelmed with surprise after the claps turned to a 'Happy Birthday' singalong, accompanied on the bagpipes.
Hannah's neighbour Alison shared a video of the sing-song, saying: "After the clap for carers tonight, Braidlaw Park residents had a wee surprise for one of our lovely neighbours who was 80 today. Happy Birthday Tiny Hannah."
Many other locals left comments under the video praising Braidlaw Park residents for the kind gesture.
One woman said: "Happy birthday to Tiny, you are such a brave lady and how much we are missing the Monday club especially that noisy table at the window biggest hugs and lots of love from Wanda (I am the one that shares the bingo calling with Ann)."
Another person who lives nearby added: "I heard this!!! Knew I wasn’t going crazy!! Happy Birthday!!"
And someone else said: "That was a lovely thoughtful act for everyone involved to take part in. Happy birthday to Tiny Hannah."

Alison explained to Edinburgh Live: "All the neighbours sang happy birthday after the Clap For Carers, just before Kirsty played pipes."
