Watch as Larne coach Tim McCann accidentally slide tackles opponent during summer friendly

Larne coach Tim McCann has revealed how his slide tackle gaffe during a pre-season game in Poland even had the opposition laughing.

The Irish League club are currently enjoying a summer training camp just outside Gdansk.

The Inver Reds took on German club Chemnitzer FC in a friendly game earlier this week, with Larne going on to claim a late 1-0 win.

But it was this sliding tackle from coach McCann that stole the headlines.

The former Cliftonville and Glentoran winger was known for his pace and trickery during his playing career.

But now he can add 'crunching tackler' to his array of footballing abilities, as this video shows.

And just check out Larne manager Tiernan Lynch's reaction afterwards, with head in hands:

Explaining what had happened, McCann said: "Johnny McMurray had slide tackled one of their players and I spotted a few of the Chemnitzer players starting to run towards him. I thought it was going to kick off.

"That's when I decided to run over and try and diffuse any potential trouble, but I forgot I had swapped my boots for trainers before the game, so when I hit the grass I ended up doing a two-footed tackle on one of their players.

"Tiernan tried to walk over but he just buckled over laughing."

Whilst McCann's intervention could have added fuel to the fire, Chemnitzer's players were even reduced to laughter.

"I thought things were going to explode, but I think they realised what had happened," McCann added.

"Their goalkeeper came over and was hugging Tiernan and just laughing, and then he came over to me and just said "you're f*****g crazy".

"He's probably not far wrong."
