Watch as Jeff Hendrick surprises young Republic of Ireland fan with heartwarming gesture

Jeff Hendrick surprised a young football fan by inviting him to be a mascot for Monday's crunch Euro2020 qualifier.

Irish lad David arrived at the Republic of Ireland's team hotel for what he thought was a foosball competition.

However, he was met by the Burnley FC star who invited him to walk out with the Boys in Green just before the game against Denmark at the Aviva Stadium.

In the heartwarming video, Jeff asked: "How would you mind being mascot for the game against Denmark?"

A delighted David replied: "Oh I'd love that."

After being given the task on behalf of team sponsors Three, David went onto meet manager Mick McCarthy in the clip, which was all shot on a Huawei P30 Pro.

David will be on the pitch in front of a full capacity stadium for the tie which will kick off at 7.45pm.
