Watch as hero rescues dog from Glasgow canal after falling in at Port Dundas

Everyone loves a feel good dog story - especially us here at Glasgow Live.

So we are more than happy to be able to write this story about a pet pooch who was pulled from safety by a kind and nimble passer by.

Unfortunately, a small black dog got into bother this morning at the canal by Port Dundas when it was spotted in the water, hidden by the long grass on the banks.

Luckily for the dog, however, some passers-by were prepared and after a quick rescue mission the dog was pulled out the water to safety.

Jason Hutchison is the knight in shining armour after he managed to lean down and pull the dog out the water by the scruff of the neck.

An eyewitness told Glasgow Live: "We were just walking along the canal and saw a couple shouting across the water.

"One of the guys was already trying to rescue the dog, but Jason ran round to help and he was the one that managed to rescue the dog."

Jason, from Anniesland, helped the wee dog - but unfortunately was not able to see its owners.

The eyewitness added: "We think the dog may have fallen from one of the canal boats.

"Unfortunately the dog ran off and we didn’t get to find out who the owners were but would have loved to find out."

So if that was your dog, get in touch.
