Watch as Glentoran's 'Queen of East Belfast' addresses fans in Christmas Day speech

Glentoran's 'Queen of East Belfast' made a special Christmas address to fans yesterday.

Morgan Day became famous earlier this year when she was unsuspectingly pulled into the Glens' celebrations of 'Morgan Day'.

It was on April 23, 2005 when Chris Morgan scored a last-gasp winner for the Glens in a virtual title decider against Linfield.

It is celebrated every year by the East Belfast club, not least in 2020 which was the 15th anniversary of the iconic match.

American resident Morgan knew nothing about the event until this year, when she became an overnight Irish League personality because of her name.

Morgan ended up being inadvertently tagged in some tweets from Glentoran fans celebrating the Big Two win.

And things escalated from there, including a television interview with BBC and other media coverage.

And Morgan's honorary duties of being the 'Queen of East Belfast' continued on Christmas Day when she made a special address to Glentoran's fans.

The Oklahoma girl says in the video: "I cannot express the delight I have felt, in this, my first year as Queen of East Belfast.

"It has been a year where I got to meet so many wonderful people, and watched from afar as Glentoran lifted the Irish Cup at the end of July.

"It was wonderful to observe the celebrations in the east of the city, and I can't help feel that I should have been with you all outside of Westbourne as the boys brought the Irish Cup back to its rightful home."

The video was made possible through Glens fans Sam Robinson and Alan White who brought it all together.

Morgan adds in the video: "I personally believe that some day soon the Gibson Cup will cross the Queen's Bridge and return to the East of the city, and I for one would love to be there when that day comes."

Check out Morgan's full address above to hear what she had to say.
