Watch as Giant blocks own punt, becomes Patriot touchdown

The New York Giants were going to have to be perfect against the New England Patriots to have a chance. They committed a first-quarter gaffe that turned into a special-teams TD for the Super Bowl champions.

Riley Dixon was back to punt late in the quarter. The Patriots’ Brandon Bolden pushed protector Nate Stupar back and Dixon’s punt went off his teammate. The ball went high in the air and came down in rookie Chase Winovich’s hands. He took it into the end zone for a touchdown.

Memorable plays are not uncommon between the Patriots and their New York foes.

There was the incredible helmet catch by David Tyree off the pass from Eli Manning in Super Bowl XLII.

And, of course, the infamous “Butt Fumble” by Mark Sanchez in a game between the Jets and Patriots on Nov. 22, 2012.
