Watch as Edinburgh's Ocean Terminal Shopping centre shown 'empty' in 'very sad' video

A video shared by a local shows Edinburgh's Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre looking very quiet as shops appear to be 'shut down.'

The shopper shared the video today on social media, penning: "Very sad literally every retailer closed Ocean Terminal #Edinburgh."

In the video, shot today (Tuesday 6 October) on one the floors of the Newhaven shopping centre, some shops appear to be cleared out all together while others look closed.

The shopper films one side of the building which appears to show  stores which have been emptied out, before panning to the other side of the centre to show a series of shutters pulled down.

It is unclear how many of the stores filmed in the video have temporarily closed down or have closed for good.

Ocean Terminal opened up in 2001, and was once a place visited by the likes of Beyonce and PINK, when the centre hosted the MTV Music Awards back in 2003.

The news comes as a number of stores and eateries confirmed they would be opening up or relocating to the new St James Quarter Development that is hoped to open up in Easter 2021.

Edinburgh Live has contacted Ocean Terminal for comment.
