Watch as Edinburgh couples break into spontaneous dance party on Princes Street

Edinburgh locals were seen gathering on Princes Street on Friday evening (June 9) to enjoy some live music and a dance.

In a video sent to Edinburgh Live, a crowd of locals can be seen outside Waverley Mall watching a band taking advantage of the Spaces for People road closure to perform live for locals.

Before long two joyful Edinburgh couples are seen dancing to the music, while onlookers cheer and clap in amusement.

An eyewitness told Edinburgh Live: “It was great to watch.

“Everyone looked so happy, bringing back life to Edinburgh.

“It’s what we all need. “

The news comes as Edinburgh Live recently reported how another video went viral on TikTok showing a spontaneous dance session in the Grassmarket.

The video, posted by @katrinamurray_, quickly saw over 50,000 likes, after they included different shots of those who had stopped to have a quick dance.

In under 30 seconds, the video was able to spread a little bit of joy, with thousands of people sharing the love and replying to the post online.

In what gave a reminiscent feeling to Edinburgh's festival days, the socially distant crowd were made up of a host of different ages, genders and ethnicities as they moved to the music .

One user was glad to see what seemed like a small slice of normality again, commenting: "Finally some parts of life are going back to how they used to be."
