CYAN Racing has smashed two Nurburgring lap records during trials of the Lynk & Co 03 Cyan Concept.
Based on the 03 TCR race cars run in the World Touring Car Cup, the prototype production performance road car is now the fastest four-door car and front-wheel-driven car in the world around the fearsome German circuit.
Powered by a 528hp 2.0-litre four-pot turbocharged engine mated to a racing-spec six-speed sequential transmission, it lapped the 20.8km Nordschleife track in seven minutes and 20.143 seconds.
That’s three seconds faster than the four-door car record created by the Jaguar XE Project 8 and 25 seconds faster than the front-wheel-drive Renault Megane Trophy R.
But the 03 Cyan Concept is seriously quick – it can sprint to 62mph in just 4.4 seconds, doubling that speed from a standstill takes only 10 seconds and it redlines at an eye-watering 193mph.
Thed Bjork, the 2017 World Touring Car champion, was at the wheel for the blistering lap and said: “The record that we achieved here is something I rank on the same level as my racing titles and a highlight in my part of transitioning development from race to road cars.”
Development of the Lynk & Co 03 Cyan Concept will continue throughout the last part of the year, with the team turning attention to winter testing in the north of Sweden as part of creating a performance car for all roads, all seasons and all conditions.
