Watch as callous thieves steal 6-year-old boy's birthday presents from car in West Lothian

A West Lothian mum is appealing for help after two people were caught on CCTV apparently breaking into her car and stealing the birthday presents she'd left in the boot, which were for her 6-year-old's birthday.

Liz McWilliams shared the footage - filmed at 1.50am on 12 April in Winchburgh Village- on a local Facebook group in a bid to catch the culprits.

Writing on Facebook, she said:

"In the early hours of Friday morning two guys decided to break into my car and steal all of my 6 year old's birthday presents. To say my son was devastated is an understatement.

"Two carrier bags of presents were left in the boot of my car.

"One of the books stolen was personalised so is of no significant use to anyone else.

"If anyone knows anything or have been approached to buy Lego, a remote controlled car, books, art and craft things, a kids fish tank and other bits and bobs that my son was given, please can you send me a message or call 101 anonymously.

"The boys were seen on our cameras, and I have been given the all clear by the police to show the video.

"If you recognise them at all, please just private message or call 101.

"The boys headed off on to the path at the side of the bellway houses, in the direction of Sainsbury’s. They were both on foot and wearing quite distinctive clothing.

"4 other cars on Thursday night were also opened and gone through, with other items being stolen."

Mrs McWilliams told Edinburgh Live that the stolen items have not yet been found, and that she hasn't had an update from police.

She said:

“My son was heartbroken when he found out the presents had been stolen.

"Although it happened on 12 April we still don’t know who was responsible. If anyone recognises the people in the CCTV please contact police quoting incident number CR/024557/19”
