Although India are behind in their overall ODI head-to-head against Pakistan with 56 wins and 73 losses, the hosts have clearly been the stronger team in recent meetings.
India came into the World Cup as the top-ranked ODI team and lived up to the billing of favourites with a six-wicket win over five-time champions Australia, followed by an eight-wicket thrashing of Afghanistan, which saw skipper Rohit Sharma smashing a record seventh World Cup century.
Pakistan have been equally dominating in their first two matches, beating the Netherlands to open their campaign, followed by an impressive win over Sri Lanka while chasing a target of 345 runs.
