North East TV legends Ant and Dec have recorded a special message for the Team Sunshine runners taking part in the Great North Run.
In a video, a beaming Declan Donnelly says: "We just wanted to wish Team Sunshine and team Mini Sunshine the very best of luck for the Great North Run, you can do it!"
His co-star, Ant McPartlin, added: "Good luck!"
The Sunshine Fund is a North East charity that enhances the lives of local children with disabilities by funding equipment to meet their specialist needs.
Lauren Thompson, a the charity's digital fundraising manager, echoed the star duo’s message of support.
She said: "Our Great North Run team wouldn't be a success without our wonderful runners as they always go above and beyond to fundraise.
"Being a North East charity, the Great North Run has always been a firm favourite in our diary and it fills us with pride every year to see so many runners supporting us on the day.
"We felt it was only fitting to have North East legends Ant and Dec wish our runners luck in the world’s most famous half-marathon."
Lauren also thanked this year’s sponsor, the Village Hotel Newcastle.
She said: "This year our friends at the Village Hotel Newcastle have sponsored Team Sunshine, and they are even hosting a celebration party in the week following the race to say thank you."
Jason Dalus, the hotel's general manager, added: "We are honoured to be chosen to be 2019’s corporate partner for Team Sunshine and we look forward to meeting the runners after the event.

The 39th Great North Run takes place on September 8, so if you’re not running make sure you go down to support all those running for a good cause.
