Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed Friday that quarterback Patrick Mahomes will not play Sunday as Kansas City (5-2) hosts the Green Bay Packers (6-1).
The news is not a surprise as the reigning NFL MVP dislocated his knee cap in last Thursday night’s win versus the Denver Broncos (2-5). But the young quarterback practice some this week and Reid would not rule him out midweek.
Mahomes has been outstanding this season for a second straight year. The 24-year-old completed 65.1% of his passes before the injury, throwing for 2,180 yards and 15 touchdowns with one interception.
Matt Moore is set to start at quarterback in Mahomes’ place versus Aaron Rodgers’ team.
