Watch: Andrew Whitworth and Johnny Hekker help raise money for LA’s homeless

Sean McVay has emphasized the importance of community work ever since he took over as coach of the Los Angeles Rams. All his players have bought in, and that’s being put on display yet again.

The Rams are helping out with United Way’s HomeWalk to raise money to end homelessness. McVay, Aaron Donald, Andrew Whitworth, and Johnny Hekker will all be participating as captains, and Whitworth and Hekker recorded a video to ask fans to join them on Saturday.

As ESPN’s Lindsey Thiry pointed out in a tweet, Whitworth is matching all donations to the HomeWalk. As of Friday evening Whitworth was donating $16,325 to the cause, bringing the total raised so far to $32,650

This isn’t the first time Whitworth has pitched in money for a good cause as a member of the Rams. Last season, the veteran left tackle donated an entire game check to victims of the Thousand Oaks shooting.

The original goal for Rams donations was only $25,000, so they’ve already blown past that. It’s a 5k run/walk that will start at Grand Park in downtown Los Angeles.

You can check out the event page here. The website reads “registration for the event starts at $25, and all paid participants will receive an exclusive Rams t-shirt. Please note children under the age of 18 are free to attend.”
