Andrew Luck did not practice Tuesday. Instead, the Indianapolis Colts QB spent the morning rehabbing his lingering calf injury.
The 29 year old was, “not ready to take the next step,” according to second-year head coach Frank Reich and the team is being cautious with the quarterback in order to make sure that the already-drawn-out calf strain doesn’t extend into an injury that impacts the season.
Luck talked with reporters after the practice saying, “The nature of it is a calf strain. And I say lower leg cause I feel pain in my ankle area and calf strain,” per NFL.com. “I’ve had images and X-rays and my Achilles is not at extra risk. There is no tear or swelling in there or anything that’s indicated.”
Reich said that Luck will not play in the team’s first preseason, versus the Buffalo Bills, on Aug. 8. According to the coach, that was always the plan for Luck, even before the injury.
