Watch amazing Rangers behind the scenes footage that perfectly encapsulates James Tavernier's evolution

An old criticism of James Tavernier was that he was a one dimensional player.

The Englishman couldn't defend or wasn't best suited to wearing the Rangers captain's armband - his only asset was from an attacking perspective.

And as harsh as those opinions were, it's now something that can't even be entertained

Tavernier has started to embrace his leadership role in the dressing room, as well as vastly improving the defensive side of his game.

And one moment on Thursday night perfectly encapsulated his evolution in recent years as he triggered Scott Arfield's winner against the Belgians to secure a place in the Europa League knockout round.

Behind the scenes footage has emerged from the clash at Ibrox as the Canadian's strike was captured from behind the goal.

You can hear the skipper screaming: "Go, go, go!", as a sea of Light Blue jerseys charge at Noe Dussenne forcing him into a rushed clearance.

That immediately launched a Rangers attack as Ryan Kent would find Arfield in the box to net the decisive goal.

Tavernier wasn't directly involved in the goal, but his impact was clear to see as his team-mates reacted to his instructions.

The full-back picked up November's Player of the Month Award which is nothing unusual in recent years as he continues to put up incredible goal and assist numbers that are invaluable to the club.

But he's now added more to his game and is helping Rangers win in a variety of ways.
