WATCH Amazing Dublin schoolgirl's brilliant idea raises hundreds to feed and clothe the homeless at Christmas

An incredibly thoughtful Dublin schoolgirl has raised hundreds of euro to help feed and clothe the homeless this Christmas.

Seven-year-old Grace McMahon has been making and selling a range of Christmas decorations with her granddad Willie and the generous second class pupil is giving all of the cash to homeless charities.

Grace's "super proud" mum Laura told Dublin Live: "She wanted to come up with the idea of creating art to make money for a charity.

"Grace came up with the idea of making Christmas logs with her granddad, a thing of the past which we dont see anymore, and also the idea of pots with a unique touch.

"I posted the pictures on Facebook and we're now hitting 60 orders which we did not expect.

"Grace has always had concerns for people who are homeless.

"From a very young age of three, she questioned how homeless people would survive in cold winter days.

"Now Grace wants to help as many as she can buy making the money for these logs and pots without any profit to feed and clothe the homeless."

Grace and Laura unfortunately experienced homelessness themselves five years ago but are now happy in their Blanchardstown home.

Myself and Grace were homeless for seven months in homeless accommodation so there is a lot of empathy in doing this," said Laura.

"We were the lucky ones to say the least."

The dream team of Grace and Willie design and make all of the decorations themselves and have already raised around €600.

And they hope to raise even more money which will be donated to Inner City Helping Homeless when they set up a stall at the Hungry Monkey in Mulhuddart on Saturday, December 19.

"It's all so overwhelming but gives me a warm heart as a young mother," said Laura

"I am super proud and overwhelmed with the response of family and friends to buy these amazing creative pieces of art by Grace."
