Watch Alternative Manchester Pride Festival performances on United We Stream

Manchester Pride should have been this weekend, but like most major events, this year's festival has had to be postponed.

That doesn't mean the party's over, though - it's simply gone online instead.

Organisers of the annual LGBTQ+ celebration have put together a virtual programme of live and past performances to enjoy over the bank holiday weekend.

Viewers can look forward to a line up featuring Pixie Lott, Louise Redknapp, Bright Light Bright Light, Gok Wan and Jodie Harsh will be among the performers, along with Kelli-Leigh, Manchester Queens, House Gospel Choir, Karen Harding, Husk and many more.

Festival fans can also relive highlights from years gone by, with screenings of sets by Years & Years, Rita Ora and Mel C.

A pre-recorded virtual parade will also be screened on Saturday, and Monday's emotional candelit vigil will also be streamed from Sackville Gardens.

You can tune in to Saturday's performances below, or visit unitedwestream.co.uk. They'll be available to watch back at manchesterpride.com on Sunday too.

The council has urged people not to travel into Manchester to celebrate what would have been Pride weekend, warning that Covid-19 'remains a very real threat'.

While the bars around the city's Gay Village are now back open, operating with reduced capacities and new Covid-safe regulations, most parts of Greater Manchester remain under tighter local lockdown measures.

The restrictions mean people from affected boroughs - currently everywhere except Wigan, with Trafford due to be lifted next week - are not allowed to socialise with members of different households in indoor settings - including bars and restaurants.

Those who are planning to go out this weekend have been warned that bars will have a limited capacity - as will the Village itself - and if the area becomes too busy people may be asked to leave.
