WATCH: Adam Humphries signs with Tennessee Titans because of Tom Brady’s age

Tom Brady will be 42 years old when the New England Patriots kick off the 2019 NFL season.

The six-time Super Bowl champion and four-time Super Bowl MVP is arguably the best QB of all time, but he is also the oldest active NFL quarterback and it is that fact that turned one young wide receiver away from signing a contract with the reigning Super Bowl champs.

Adam Humphries told The Athletic, “Obviously he’s the G.O.A.T. That’s that simple,” speaking of Brady. “But there’s so much that factors into that decision. It was a four-year deal. Who knows how many (years) he’s got left? There’s a lot that goes into that.”

Humphries went undrafted out of Clemson, then earned himself a contract out of mini-camp with the Tampa Buccaneers. Four seasons later, the free agent was considered one of the Patriots’ biggest offseason pursuits.

Ultimately, the slot wide receiver signed a four-year deal for less money than the Patriots offered him to not risk playing with Brady, then watching TB12 retire.
