NEW DELHI: Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav had missed Delhi Capitals' last two matches due to an injury. But he returned to cricketing action with a bang taking 3/20 as Delhi Capitals thrashed Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets in Lucknow on Friday.
Kuldeep was adjudged the Player of the Match for his spell as LSG were restricted to 167/7 in their 20 overs.
Kuldeep dismissed LSG captain KL Rahul (39), Marcus Stoinis (8) and Nicholas Pooran for a first ball duck.
Kuldeep bowled a straighter delivery on off that breached Pooran's defence and the off-stump went for a toss.
On IPLT20.com, Kuldeep talked about his delivery that clean bowled the dangerous Pooran.
"Achcha ball tha, it was a proper googly, it pitched on good length, and spun. It was my plan to bowl that delivery and had set the field accordingly and luckily the ball pitched perfectly and I got the wicket. When you take a wicket off a good ball, you celebrate also so as it was a good ball, the celebration was called for," Kuldeep said.
DC skipper Rishabh Pant scored a 24-ball 41 signalling his return to form.
Talking about Pant, Kuldeep said, "I am very happy for him (Pant), I have seen his progress in the last year and the way he is batting it is quite enjoyable. Obviously he was nervous in the first match but after that he has really played well. In any format, in any conditions, you would always want players like him (Pant) to be in the team."
With 2 victories from 6 matches, Delhi Capitals are at the ninth spot in the points table.
