Give a rider a regular 1,340cc, 188 hp, Suzuki Hayabusa with 111 lb-ft of torque and a (derestricted) top speed of 190-195 mph on an empty airstrip and watch their pupils dilate. By the time they're back, they'd be doing well not to have a wet patch in their leathers. Now, add nearly 200 hp to that and see what it does to a rider.
Well, not just any rider, it's Alastair Fagan who has competed in British Superbike and the Isle of Man TT, before becoming one of the co-founders of 44Teeth.
This SuperBusa is the brainchild of TTS Performance and puts out 370 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque thanks to strengthened internals and a Rotorex C30-94 centrifugal supercharger. Carbon fiber winglets help keep this monster stuck to the ground while it completes an 8.0-second quarter mile and hits its top speed of 218 mph. There's no question about whether this bullet can get going; it's more the stopping I'd be concerned with.
When you're accelerating harder and going faster than you've likely ever done in your life, brake markers become a blur, and waiting just a second too long could leave you with a squeaky bum moment as you approach the end of a straight. Thankfully, this unit sports 330mm StopTech front discs and a lightweight TTS rear disc.
In the video below, I believe Fagon was safe and wasn't going to wind up in any trouble, but there's no doubt that the fence at the end of the runway was approaching far faster than anyone wants to see from behind a set of handlebars.
You can hear Fagon say, "Whoa, whoa, whoa—that was the limit." And from the slight panic in his voice, you can tell that it certainly was. There's no show being put on for the cameras here, apart from the bloody great one of him wheeling a 230 hp GSX-R1000 like it's child's play.
