Watch a feast of classic cars coming up for grabs at auction

CLASSIC car enthusiasts are going to be spoiled for choice in an auction featuring everything from a rare pre-war Lagonda to a Le Mans winner’s Ferrari.

The 1935 Lagonda M45 Rapide four-seater sports car – one of just 53 ever built – is likely to steal the limelight and the 101mph droptop is likely to sell for up to £160,000.

Bentley fans have a fabulous five MkVI machines to choose from, the most expensive being a 1952 4.5-litre drophead coupe that could fetch £120,000.

However, at the lower end, is a standard 1951 steel saloon model that’s been part of a private collection with a guide price set at a modest £18,000.

Brough is a name usually associated with motorbikes but a 1935 Superior 4.2-litre drophead coupe, one of only 25 of the eight-cylinder cars made, could be yours for around £80,000.

Tipped to fetch up to £55,000 is a 1970 Jaguar E-type with a rare Porsche Tangerine paintjob that first belonged to famous Fleet Street cartoonist Raymond Jackson.

And with a similar price tag, there is a 1980 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II that belonged to Princess Margaret for 22 years.

A more contemporary offering is a 2000 Ferrari 360 Modena first owned by Le Mans winner and former F1 driver Martin Brundle, which is expected to go for as much as £65,000.

The H&H Classics auction will take place on May 26 at Duxford, Cambridgeshire. Go to www.handh.co.uk to find out more.
