Watch: 90s star David Gray bumps into busker singing his song in Belfast city centre

1990s favourite David Gray joined in with a busker singing one of his own songs in Belfast city centre ahead of his gig at the SSE Arena on Tuesday night.

The Babylon singer returns to the city this week for the first stop on a worldwide tour, and has been out exploring.

In a video posted on his Instagram stories, Cheshire-born David came across busker John Garrity singing his hit ‘You’re The One I Love’.

David joined in the busker’s rendition on Royal Avenue despite realising that he was not singing the right lyrics.

“They’re playing our song,” the singer says in the video

“They’re singing the wrong words, nice voice,” he adds before joining in.

The singer rose to prominence in the UK and Ireland at the latter end of the 1990s, with his White Ladder album remarkably remaining the highest selling album of all time in Ireland.

His SSE Arena date will be followed by three nights at the 3Arena in Dublin this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
