Watch: 5-star UGA football RB target Zach Evans turns on the burners for first TD of the year

On Thursday night, high school football returned in the state of Texas, giving Georgia football fans a chance to watch 5-star running back target Zach Evans in action.

Evans, who stars for No. 1 ranked North Shore High School (Houston, TX),  is considered the top overall high school football prospect in ESPN’s recruiting ranking. He recently visited Georgia on July 27th, and as of now is seen as a strong UGA lean, with 9 of the 13 247Sports Crystal Ball picks going in the Bulldogs’ favor.

On Thursday night, Evans had the chance to showcase his talents on ESPNU when his top ranked North Shore team took on the No. 2 Katy Tigers.

Katy pulled off a come-from-behind victory, overcoming a 21-7 halftime deficit and eventually winning the game 24-21 as North Shore terribly misused the best ball carrier in the nation, in Evans.

In the third quarter, Evans only touched the ball one time. In total, he had just 10 carries for 37 yards. However, in the second quarter, he showed why he is the nation’s top ranked back. He showed incredible speed as he raced for this 25 yard touchdown to put North Shore up 14-7.

Why North Shore failed to feed Evans is unknown, but if I’m coaching North Shore and have a guy who ran for 2,785 yards as a junior, I have three plays: Evans left, Evans right, Evans up the middle.
