WATCH: 49ers DE Nick Bosa back in practice

The 49ers got rookie defensive end Nick Bosa back on the practice field for the first time since early August. Bosa injured his ankle after getting landed on in practice and was forced to miss the entire preseason.

The No. 2 overall pick returned to action Monday in the team’s first practice since roster cuts, and their first day of on-field preparation for their Week 1 showdown with the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay.

Chris Biderman of the Sacramento Bee had some video of Bosa working out during the session:

It’s hard to tell just how well he’s moving in these drills, but it’s encouraging that he’s on the field working. There’s still no certainty that he’ll be ready for Sunday’s season opener.

His work Monday indicates he’s at least on track to be in the lineup, though the training staff will have to see how he responds to his first reps in nearly a month.

The team doesn’t have to release an official injury report until Wednesday. That’ll provide a much better indicator of where Bosa stands heading into the opener.
