'Horrible game!' - Arsenal fans in disagreement after Martin Odegaard's Norway performance

Arsenal have struggled for goals during Mikel Arteta's 21-month tenure as head coach.

The Gunners have netted a measly 87 times in 61 matches since the Spaniard took over the managerial hot-seat from Unai Emery in December 2019.

Arteta's men have struggled to consistently create goalscoring openings and have so far failed to score a single goal in this season's Premier League, drawing blanks against newly-promoted Brentford, London rivals Chelsea and reigning champions Manchester City.

Arsenal were once blessed with a plethora of talented playmakers, with German maestro Mesut Ozil, diminutive Spaniard Santi Cazorla and Welsh international Aaron Ramsey all brilliantly combining in the heart of the midfield during Arsene Wenger's final years as head coach.

To help combat this, Norway captain Martin Odegaard was brought on loan from Real Madrid back in January and the 22-year-old was able to demonstrate his playmaking ability in a short period of time, averaging 2.19 key passes and 4.26 shot-creating actions per game before returning to the Bernabeu.

Odegaard's impressive displays convinced the Gunners' transfer chief Edu to splash out £30million to acquire his services last month, a deal that some supporters were unhappy with, citing the fact he registered just two assists across 14 league fixtures as a reason to be concerned.

Now, the former Real Sociedad loanee has garnered criticism from a section of Arsenal fans on Reddit for his performance in Norway's clash against Latvia on Saturday evening whilst some supporters have been impressed with his display

Stalingrad52 said: "Odegaard stinking up the place again."

Troy1fuzs3 said: "He (Odegaard) and Haaland both had 8.5 score on Fotmob. I watched the game and not a perfect game by Odegaard, and still very early in the new season for him. It was a very strong creative game indeed and unlucky to not get an assist - Haaland usually finish such huge chances in Dortmund."
