Waste fires a problem on busy night for Notts firefighters

Fire crews in Nottinghamshire were kept busy with a string of waste fires on Sunday night (October 17).

At 19.40, crews in Mansfield attended a rubbish fire on Garibaldi Park, Forest Town. One hosereel jet was used to extinguish the fire.

At 19.54, crews from Stockhill were called out following reports of a rubbish fire on Honiton Road, Broxtowe. This fire was out upon arrival.

And at 20.42 crews from Warsop attended reports of a rubbish fire on Ravensdale Road, Mansfield.

This was a fire in a clothes recycling bin and one hosereel jet was used to extinguish the blaze.

Other callouts for the Nottinghamshire firefighters included an SOS from a group of people stuck inside a lift in a residential building in Edwalton at 19.49.

Crews from West Bridgford attended and released all three people who had been trapped in the lift, using small tools.

At 18.37, crews from Worksop attended reports of an alarm activation at a residential scheme on Potter Street, Worksop. This turned out to be a false alarm.

And at 19.51, crews from Mansfield and Warsop were called to a two-vehicle collision between on New Mill Lane, Mansfield Woodhouse. Both vehicles were made safe by crews on scene.
