(Reuters) - Wasps fly-half Jimmy Gopperth could miss most of the upcoming Premiership season after being ruled out for up to nine months with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

The 35-year-old sustained the knee injury in Wasps' pre-season defeat to Irish side Connacht on Aug. 18.

"Jimmy Gopperth has undergone an ACL reconstruction following an injury sustained in Connacht. Estimated absence - six to nine months." Wasps said on their website.

Wasps, who open their Premiership campaign against Worcester on Saturday, will also be without prop Jake Cooper-Woolley and hooker Antonio 'TJ' Harris, both of whom could be sidelined for around six weeks due to bicep injuries.
