Dec. 13--The Washington Wizards have snapped the Clippers' nine-game win streak with a 104-96 win at Verizon Center on Friday evening.
The Wizards led the entire game, pushing their advantage to as much as 18 points. The Clippers cut the Wizards' lead to single digits a few times in the fourth quarter, but the Wizards retook a 13-point lead and held control.
Entering Friday's game, the Wizards had lost 10 of their last 11 games against the Clippers. The win gives the Wizards their best home start in franchise history (11-2).
The Clippers committed 18 turnovers and had only 14 assists. They were outshot from the field, 48.8% to 42.7%, and from the three-point line, 56.3% to 30%.
How off were the Clippers? Chris Paul had a very uncharacteristic six turnovers, and Blake Griffin had only two rebounds.
Paul led the Clippers with 19 points on seven-of-14 shooting and six assists. Blake Griffin had 14 points, Jamal Crawford had 12, and Matt Barnes and DeAndre Jordan each added 11 points. Spencer Hawes suffered a bruised left knee in the first half and did not return to the game.
Bradley Beal led the Wizards with 29 points, including four three-pointers.
The Clippers conclude their three-game road trip with the tail end of their back-to-back Saturday against Milwaukee. The Clippers (16-6) are now in sixth place in the Western Conference, while the Wizards (16-6) improved to second place in the Eastern Conference.
