Washington wide receiver Curtis Samuel did not practice on Wednesday

Just three days after making his Washington debut, wide receiver Curtis Samuel did not practice on Wednesday. He missed practice with a groin injury — the same injury that sidelined him throughout the summer and cost him the first three games of the 2021 season.

Uh oh.

After Wednesday’s practice, Rivera was asked about Samuel moving forward, and the coach was purposely vague in his answer.

“We’re obviously going to be cautious with it, and we’ll go from there,” Rivera said, per Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post.

Rivera didn’t confirm if Samuel re-injured the groin or the team was taking it easy with the wide receiver coming off his first game. Samuel played 25 snaps in Week 4, which was right about what the team wanted him to play. He caught all four targets for 19 yards and did make multiple key first downs for Washington.

With Dyami Brown and Cam Sims also banged up, Washington could be in trouble at wide receiver Sunday. No. 1 tight end Logan Thomas also went on injured reserve on Wednesday.

It will be interesting to see Samuel’s status on Thursday and Friday.
