Why Hawaii Will Win
Only one of the teams in this game is 2-0 in Pac-12 play.
The Rainbow Warriors might have a whole slew of problems and issues, but but they found a way to beat both Arizona and Oregon State by throwing and throwing some more with the passing game that’s been great from the start.
The turnovers from the Arizona game slowed down against the Beavers, and Cole McDonald played the whole game with 421 yards and four scores. The problem so far for defenses has been the inability to cover everyone. Cedric Byrd destroyed the Wildcats, and last week it was JoJo Ward who caught ten passes with four touchdown throws.
As high-flying as the offense is, it’s been great at controlling the clock and the tempo. So far, Hawaii has kept the ball for over 34 minutes a game despite struggling on third downs. But …
Why Washington Will Win
The Huskies are great at controlling the clock, too.
The might not be as explosive as Hawaii, but they’ve been holding the ball for over 33 minutes a game so far. If they can grind out the ground game a bit, hit on the third down throws, and keep McDonald and company on the sidelines, the Rainbow Warriors will have to press against one of the best secondaries in the Pac-12.
The biggest difference between Washington and Arizona and Oregon State is the defensive front – the Huskies can get into the backfield. There’s been pressure on McDonald so far, but he gets the ball out of his hands in a hurry.
Hawaii has thrown 100 passes so far and allowed just four sacks. Washington is about to change that.

What’s Going To Happen
Hawaii will give away at least three turnovers and won’t be able to handle the Washington running game from the start. The Husky loss to Cal is a bad, bad thing for the Rainbow Warriors – an angry and focused team will come out of the tunnel and run for over 300 yards.
