Why Northern Colorado Will Win
The Bears lost to San Jose State, but there were a few positive.
Safety Jerone Jackson was all over the field, the kicking game was great – Collin Root nailed a 52-yard field goal and was solid punting the ball – and there weren’t a whole slew of big errors.
There were some moments when the Bears could’ve made a push to get into the game, but had to settle for field goals. If they can close out a few early drives with touchdowns, at least this could be a wee bit closer than Wazzu might like.
Northern Colorado didn’t beat itself, but …
Why Washington State Will Win
Things aren’t going all that well if you’re losing to San Jose State 35-18.
Northern Colorado couldn’t get the running game going against the Spartan defensive front, and there was absolutely nothing happening down the field – there was a whole lot of dinking and dunking.
Washington State QB Anthony Gordon was almost perfect against New Mexico State with a 420-yard, five-touchdown day, and now he’ll be able to do more of the same.
Northern Colorado doesn’t have the pass rush to bother any of the Cougar quarterbacks, and getting all the parts involved – ten players caught passes against the Aggies – won’t be a problem.

What’s Going To Happen
It’s a short week with a trip to Houston coming up for Washington State next Friday. It’s going to be a short night for the starters to get them a little more work, and then off the field as soon as possible. It’ll be ugly in a big hurry.
