Washington signs RB Lamar Miller away from Bears practice squad

The Washington Football Team signed running back Lamar Miller off the Bears’ practice squad, a source confirmed. Miller played in one game for the Bears this season, catching two passes for six yards against the Vikings on Nov. 16.

Miller was a Pro Bowl player for the Texans in 2018 before tearing his knee in a 2019 preseason game and missing the entire season. The Bears signed him to the practice squad in early October and monitored his health. Running backs coach Charles London had been Miller’s position coach with the Texans.

Miller, who turns 30 in April, was clearly behind Cordarrelle Patterson, Ryan Nall and even Artavis Pierce when David Montgomery missed the Vikings game.

The Bears did not have Miller as one of the three protected players on their practice squad, meaning that Washington could sign him away simply by offering the promise of a 53-man roster spot.
