Washington selects Penn State edge Shaka Toney in the 2021 NFL draft

The Washington Football Team used their second consecutive seventh-round draft pick to choose an edge rusher, choosing Penn State’s Shaka Toney at No. 246 overall.

Washington chose William Bradley-King of Baylor with its first seventh-round choice. Bradley-King is also an edge rusher.

A Philadelphia native, Toney was a four-year contributor for the Nittany Lions. He was a top reserve and special-teams contributor in his first two seasons before moving into the starting lineup in 2019.

Toney tied the Penn State record in 2018 when he recorded four sacks in a single game. He finished his career with 20.5 sacks for the Nittany Lions and was a captain for his senior season.

Toney has good size and is a solid athlete. Another player with great character and a strong work ethic. He and Bradley-King will compete to earn a spot on Washington’s 53-man roster in 2021. You really have to like Toney’s experience, as he is game-tested against some of the best teams in college football.
