Washington’s Ryan Anderson looks forward to welcoming former Alabama teammate Landon Collins

While he was confined to a backup role at outside linebacker last year, behind both Ryan Kerrigan and Preston Smith, Washington’s Ryan Anderson struggled to make his mark on the field.

Anderson is heading into his third year, and will likely step into a much bigger role on the Redskins defense, with Smith taking off to the Green Bay Packers in free agency.

Anderson feels he’s ready.

“They drafted me and believed in me and put me in a place so I’m just eager to prove to them and myself that I can handle the workload,” Anderson said, via Redskins.com.

Making a debut on the Washington defense alongside Anderson will be safety Landon Collins, who signed with the Redskins in free agency. Both Collins and Anderson played together at the University of Alabama for three years.

“I was real excited,” Anderson said. “Anytime you get a guy like that, you know, we played together and are coming from the same program we did — I know what he’s all about. I know he’s for real, he’s not a pretender.”

With a familiar running mate holding the secondary down behind him, Anderson will look to focus on what he does best; being a disruptor.
