Washington Redskins reportedly ready to name Case Keenum starting QB, not Dwayne Haskins

This hasn’t been trending well anyway for former Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins, but now an official decision seems to be close to happening. According to NFL insider Ian Rapaport, the Washington Redskins are expected to name Case Keenum the starting quarterback for game one.

Both Keenum and Haskins have been embattled in a pretty hotly contested quarterback competition since the pads were put on, with Colt McCoy still working to get healthy. Both have gotten time, but Haskins has been No. 3 on the depth chart since camp opened and neither Keenum nor Haskins have done too much to change that.

It must be noted however, that according to Rapoport, the Redskins’ staff likes what they see from Haskins and are high on him for the future, it just makes sense to go with experience while the former Heisman finalist continues to learn the ropes.

This is not an official word from Washington, and certainly subject to change, but Rapoport is as connected as anyone in NFL circles and likely has a good beat on this.
