Washington Redskins HC Jay Gruden “didn’t know” Terry McLaurin “was this good”

Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden has two Buckeye rookies on his team, and he’s been pleasantly shocked by third-round pick Terry McLaurin.

A star receiver at Ohio State, McLaurin played just one snap in the Redskins first preseason outing against the Browns. Haskins wasn’t overly impressive in his first NFL action, but McLaurin barely got any playing time. According to Gruden though, that was by design.

That said, the 2019 NFL Draft’s No. 76 overall selection will likely see more action in the team’s second preseason game, especially given the high praise Gruden recently heaped on him.

Gruden goes into detail on how McLaurin has impressed and says he’s been one of the team’s “better players in camp,” after being asked how the receiver is doing.

Now that success in camp needs to transition onto the field. The Redskins next game will be against the Cincinnati Bengals who just gave up 38 points to the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday night.

Let’s hope Dwayne Haskins and Terry McLaurin can both put together solid performances in the team’s second preseason game.

McLaurin stayed all four years at Ohio State and secured over 700 yards and 11 touchdowns his senior season. He was the second Ohio State receiver and fifth Buckeye selected in the 2019 NFL Draft.
