TEAM NEEDS

Quarterback
Easily the biggest need for the Redskins is the quarterback position. With Alex Smith potentially done for the year and two backup caliber quarterbacks on the roster in Case Keenum and Colt McCoy, the team would be wise to try and add a QB in the draft. Trading up for one in this relatively weak class may not be the wisest choice but if one of the top guys falls to pick 15 or they find a player they like on day 2, I’d expect the Redskins to pull the trigger on a QB.
Edge Defender
With the departure of Preston Smith in free agency and Ryan Kerrigan getting up there in age, the Redskins need to look into adding a difference maker in the draft. Ryan Anderson is on the roster already so the team may not view this as such a dire need but adding a big time pass rusher to go with Kerrigan would go a long way for this defense. There should be plenty of intriguing options at pick 15.
Wide Receiver
The Redskins just need a playmaker on offense. If Case Keenum really is the guy for 2019, they need a difference maker on the outside who can simply make plays. With the departure of Jamison Crowder in free agency and Paul Richardson coming off of a season ending injury, the receiving core is definitely not a strength of the team. They could use somebody who is dependable and a good route runner underneath who can make things happen after the catch.
Safety
It seems like every draft cycle the Redskins need a safety. Things seemed to be looking up last year with DJ Swearinger playing great football and Montae Nicholson showing some potential. With Swearinger’s surprising release and Nicholson’s arrest for assault, that promise seemed to vanish quickly. Luckily the team was able to sign former Pro Bowl safety Landon Collins in free agency but they could still use another player to play alongside him.
Offensive Guard
How many years has it been since the Redskins have addressed their need at left guard? It seems like every season the team fails to do anything about this position. The oft injured Shaun Lauvao was the starter the past two seasons before injuries would force a number of street free agents to try their hand at the position. The Redskins need to finally address this position if need and really solidify their offensive line.
TOP TARGETS

Dwayne Haskins | QB | Ohio State
The Redskins need a quarterback and the arguable top player in the class would be a very good fit. Haskins’ greatest strengths are his overall accuracy and ability to quickly distribute the ball to his playmakers. Jay Gruden’s offense is tailor made for those skills and Haskins would be able to fit right in. He may not be there come pick 15 but it isn’t entirely outside the realm of possibility.
Brian Burns | EDGE | Florida State
One of the most talented overall players in this class is Brian Burns. An elite bender around the edge, he wins in so many ways as a pass rusher. Pairing him with Ryan Kerrigan for a few years while having Daron Payne and Jonathan Allen rushing up the middle would be a nightmare for opposing offenses. He is another player who may not be there come pick 15 but the NFL seems to be lower on Burns than every draft analyst is.
Juan Thornhill | S | Virginia
Super athletic, rangy, and has ball skills… Sounds like a perfect compliment to Landon Collins to me. Thornhill turned a ton of heads at the combine, positing elite numbers. His film is solid as well as he shows off great ability in coverage and range on the backend. If he falls a little bit to mid round two come draft day, I could see the local safety being a target for the Redskins.
