The Washington Post published what I regard as a "proper" scoop yesterday. It obtained a cable from the American embassy in Baghdad that reveals the reality of life in Iraq rather than the White House's persistent upbeat spin. The memo, sent just before Bush's recent visit to Baghdad, mentioned the increasing dangers for the embassy's Iraqi employees, and also included references to abductions, threats to women's rights and "ethnic cleansing."
