Washington leads Raiders 7-3 at halftime

The Washington Football Team leads the Las Vegas Raiders 7-3 at halftime in Week 13 action from Allegiant Stadium.

Washington went to work early, going on offense first. Quarterback Taylor Heinicke led an impressive nine-play, 75-yard drive that was capped off by a beautiful seven-yard touchdown catch by tight end Logan Thomas.

That was as close as Washington’s offense would get to a score for the remainder of the first half. The WFT offense appeared conservative after the first drive, and there were some issues in pass protection.

Defensively, Washington has held the Raiders to 120 total yards. Las Vegas quarterback Derek Carr has 90 passing yards in the first half. It was an impressive half for the WFT defense, considering there were several missed tackles.

Heinicke completed 11 of 14 passes for 81 yards with a touchdown. Running back Antonio Gibson carried the football 12 times for 65 yards. Washington’s offense needs to keep Gibson involved early in the second half to maintain the lead. Also, the WFT must get Thomas and Terry McLaurin more involved in the passing game.

The Raiders will receive the second-half kickoff.
