Washington Lands Jedd Fisch As Next Coach After Kalen DeBoer’s Departure to Alabama

The Washington Huskies have locked down a replacement for Kalen DeBoer following his move to the Alabama Crimson Tide

Arizona Wildcats coach Jedd Fisch accepted Washington’s head coaching vacancy on Sunday, according to Brett McMurphy of the Action Network.

Fisch, 47, emerged as a candidate for the Huskies’ job after DeBoer departed for Tuscaloosa earlier in the week. Fisch was the only candidate to “engage” with the team after their initial conversation about the head coaching role, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel

Washington athletic director Troy Dannen posted a video of him bringing the school’s contract to Fisch’s home in Tuscon for the Huskies’ new head coach to sign.

Fisch has spent the past three seasons at Arizona, where he’s helped turn around a program that had 12 consecutive losing seasons and went 1-11 in his first year in 2021. In ’23, the Wildcats posted a 10-3 record, their best mark since 1998, and capped it off with a victory in the Alamo Bowl.

Prior to his stint at Arizona, Fisch was briefly the interim head coach for the UCLA Bruins in 2017, and also spent time in the NFL as an assistant for the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots.

He’ll inherit a Washington team set for its first season in the Big Ten, fresh off a national championship appearance.
