Washington hopes to see Derrius Guice and Chris Thompson return to the field soon

Washington Redskins interim head coach seems to think that the depth once thought to grace the backfield might soon be returning, as both running backs Chris Thompson and Derrius Guice seem close to getting back.

On Friday, after the Redskins lost 19-9 to the Minnesota Vikings, falling to 1-7 on the season, Callahan said on a conference call with reporters that Thompson is hoped to be back at practice this week, with the possibility of playing next Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. On top of that, Guice, the second-year RB who went down with a torn meniscus in the first game of the season, can soon be activated off of the IR and brough back into the fold.

While staying on the injury front, Callahan expressed that he is uncertain about the status of tight end Vernon Davis.
