‘Washington Football Team’ is the temporary new name for the ex-Redskins

The Washington Redskins no longer exist. The team opted to do away with the racially insensitive moniker and logo earlier this month to widespread approval.

The approval rating for what Washington has become is, well…

On Thursday the team officially rebranded itself as Washington Football Team for the 2020 NFL season.

Really. That’s it. Washington Football Team.

They’re keeping the team colors and going with a fairly generic uniform and helmet modification. ESPN’s Adam Schefter notes the name change is just temporary but will be in place through the upcoming NFL season.

Apparently majority owner Dan Snyder couldn’t come up with an acceptable rebranding solution despite having two decades of loud protests against the old name ringing in his ears. Perhaps he’s too busy working on a strategy to combat the flood of recent sexual misconduct accusations plaguing the team?
