Nisshinbo Holdings Inc., a Japanese textile company, has begun selling masks made from shirt fabric through the Brick House brand of shops operated by its affiliated firm. The company announced on Thursday that the masks are made of 100% cotton and can be washed for repeated use.

A set of three masks are priced at 2,990 yen excluding tax, and are also sold via the online store. A variety of woven designs such as houndstooth are available, and the masks hold their shape.

The masks were originally made to be used by Brick House store employees, but the company decided to sell them in response to the nationwide shortage of masks after the new coronavirus outbreak. The company plans to sell 20,000 masks a month.
