September, 1995, London, UK: Liam and Noel during a break in the making of the Wonderwall video, which was shot in an east London studioPhotograph: Jill FurmanovskyNoel and Liam, Paris, France, November 1995. This shoot should have been doomed from the start because Noel and Liam were not talking to each other. It was also a cold and gloomy day and the paparazzi were on our tail. As it happens, the shoot remains one of my favourites for the poignancy of the images, particularly this onePhotograph: Jill FurmanovskyNovember 1995, Paris, France: Liam and Noel. The air was cracking with tension. Liam had been in the hotel bar all night and was still drunk in the morning. Noel became furious with him as he lurched about shouting obscenities at French people on bicycles and then returned to posePhotograph: Jill FurmanovskyMarch 1996, USA: I was travelling with Oasis in America and had a berth on the tour bus opposite Liam. One night I woke up to see him sleeping peacefully without a shirt on – usually he was buttoned up to the neck, even on stage. I reached for the quick-shoot camera with flash praying he wouldn't wake up and shout at me. He didn't!Photograph: Jill FurmanovskyNoel Gallagher onstage as Oasis play Maine Road in 1996. Noel said: 'It looked like a big front room except there were 42,000 people in it. Maine Road was where we all used to go as kids. So I was standing there trying to make sure I would never forget this moment.'Photograph: Jill FurmanovskyLiam onstage at Maine Road. According to manager Marcus Russell: "Maine Road was more like a pilgrimage to their spiritual home than a gig."Photograph: Jill FurmanovskyLiam outside Abbey Road studios, October 1996, LondonPhotograph: Jill FurmanovskyFebruary, 1997: Liam leads the chorus to All Around the World at the Air Studios. Noel was singing Don't Look Back In Anger and Liam was watching him intently on a monitor on the side of the stage. I was shooting portraits of him, when suddenly a monk-like figure in a cowl loomed up on his right. I quickly changed focus to this figure and took one of my favourite images ever, of Liam and BonoPhotograph: Jill FurmanovskyWas There Then, the official exhibition programme, signed by the bandPhotograph: Jill Furmanovsky
