Was Roy Keane on Nottingham Forest scouting mission on return to roots?

Roy Keane was back where it all began for him on Friday night.

And the big question is - was he simply there to watch his old team Cobh Ramblers? Or was he on a scouting mission for Nottingham Forest?

Keane was famously spotted playing for the Cork side by the Reds, with Brian Clough paying £10,000 to bring him to the City Ground in 1990.

It was probably the best £10,000 Clough ever spent, with Keane going on to become a Forest legend before being sold to Manchester United for £3.75m in 1993 - then a British record transfer fee.

Now the Reds' No.2 to manager Martin O'Neill, Keane made a return to Cobh Ramblers' St Colman's Park ground to watch their League Of Ireland First Division clash with Bray Wanderers, which Cobh won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Ian Turner.

Keane was pictured with Ramblers' president Michael Geasley as well as supporters, and posed for a picture with the club's Under-17s squad.
