Controversial streamer Nina Lin is once again in the middle of online drama after claiming she spent a night in jail over a pair of scissors worth $4 that she didn't scan. The Twitch personality shared the story during a livestream on May 20, which sparked instant outrage across social media.
Lin’s past shopping controversies were quickly brought back into the discussions following the incident, especially after she was accused of shoplifting in late 2025. But this time, Nina said it was all about a rushed checkout error that spun far out of control of what she thought it was.

While speaking to viewers, Nina described the exact moment store staff allegedly stopped her after checkout. According to the streamer, security reviewed footage and claimed she failed to scan one item while using self checkout.
“They immediately checked my receipt, and he was like, 'You missed one.' We have a video. I’m like, what? They show me the ... video. They actually show me the alleged video they’re talking about. You know when you’re checking out, and you turn everything around so the barcode scans, and you’re laying everything out because you’re in a rush?”
