Call of Duty is shaking things up with Warzone Season 3 by bringing Avalon into the core battle royale rotation for the first time and giving the map its own Gulags later in the season.
Alongside Black Ops Royale’s arrival with Avalon in BR, Verdansk is getting a major new launch facility POI and a full slate of limited-time modes and movement updates.
Avalon gets its own Gulags in Black Ops Royale with Warzone Season 3
With Warzone Season 3, players can experience three variants of Gulags on Avalon – Server Room 04 (first variant), Cryo Room 05 (second variant), and Meeting Room 07 (third variant).
These are designed as areas on the map that you can identify and learn, like any other POI. The studio has also confirmed that Wall Jumping will be disabled in the Gulags.
As Activision states, “Each Gulag variant is a compact, roughly octagon-shaped combat arena with a central area of high traffic, and interrogation stations around an upper floor where Operators waiting to fight can observe the action.”
“Inside these arenas, expect automatic doors you can use as dynamic cover, reinforced glass windows allowing you to see, but not initially harm, your opponent, and other tactical novelties,” they continued.
Warzone Season 3 adds Avalon to big map rotation with Verdansk
Season 3 also introduces big map rotation to core battle royale, where the playlist rotates between Verdansk and Avalon as the season progresses. Verdansk will be the main BR map at launch with a huge new location called Launch Pad, while Avalon waits in the wings later in the season.
On top of that, a new limited-time mode called Launch Squad drops players into Verdansk and tasks squads with collecting Launch Codes, then surviving long enough to trigger a rocket launch.
The rest of the season will have more LTMs, including Hot Pursuit, Prop Hunt Royale, and Iron Gauntlet, all rotating through the Warzone menu at different points during Season 3.
However, some of Black Ops 7’s mechanics, such as Wall Jump and the Grappling Hook, are making their way into Warzone, in both battle royale and Resurgence modes. For more details on the update, you can check Activision’s official blog post.
