Warzone Clash mode, explained

Warzone Clash mode is back and better than ever in Call of Duty season four. Unlike the usual battle royale where survival is the name of the game, Clash flips the script, as it’s all about racking up kills, completing objectives, and working with your squad to dominate the map.

Here’s everything you need to know about the fan-favorite mode.

Clash first dropped back in September 2021 during CoD Black Ops Cold War season five as a beefed-up version of the old Rumble mode. Now, it’s back and bigger than ever with a 52v52 format, complete with special gear and exclusive power-ups.

This mode is basically a super-sized mix of multiplayer’s Team Deathmatch and Domination, all set in a single point of interest (POI) on Verdansk. Each team is made up of 13 squads of four, and with no shrinking circle, last stand, or self-revive mechanics, it’s all about pure combat and capturing objectives. You spawn in with your full loadout, so you just drop in and start racking up kills and points.

How to win in Warzone Clash mode

To win in Clash mode, your team must be the first to hit the target score of 500 points. You’ll earn points by eliminating enemies, completing contracts, and participating in Public Events that pop up mid-match. Here’s a quick breakdown of how the scoring works:

  • 1 point per enemy elimination
  • 2 points per enemy elimination with Double Down power-up
  • 5 points per contract completed
  • 10 points for capturing a Domination Point
  • 10 points for capturing a Bonus Points Crate or Cash Crate

Warzone Clash mode locations

Clash matches take place on one of the key POIs on Verdansk below, plus the surrounding areas. The current locations in rotation include:

  • Quarry
  • Boneyard
  • Farmland
  • Promenade East

You can traverse the map and quickly travel between objectives using any of the following ground and air vehicles:

  • Heli
  • Cargo Truck
  • LTV
  • Polaris RZR Pro R 4

Contracts in Warzone Clash mode

There are three available contracts in this mode:

  • Scavenger
  • Recon
  • Search and Destroy

Scavenger and Recon Contracts in Clash work just like they do in standard Battle Royale matches. Meanwhile, the Clash-exclusive Search and Destroy Contract tasks players to plant a bomb on a designated buy station, and prevent the other team from defusing it.

If your bomb detonates successfully, you’ll score some rare weapons and high-tier loot from the buy station’s inventory. But if the other team manages to defuse it, they get a Fire Sale, slashing prices across the board at buy stations.

Public Events in Warzone Clash mode

Public Events in Clash are spread out across the match. These are the available in-match events:

  • Domination Points – Just like in Multiplayer, you’ll capture flags to earn points. Up to three Domination Points can appear on the map at once, and each one you capture gives your team 10 points. They respawn throughout the match, so keep an eye on them.
  • Bonus Points Crates – A cargo plane flies over the middle of the map and drops four supply crates. Grab one, and your team earns 10 points.
  • Clash Fire Sale – Each team gets two Portable Buy Stations dropped near their spawn. For two minutes, everything’s on sale and loot crates are fully restocked. Plus, cash found in crates gets a nice boost.
  • Cash Crates – Three Cash Crates drop during this event. Capture one to snag 10 points for your squad, plus a lot of cash.
  • Power Surge – This event power-up drop rate when getting enemy kills and looting ground caches for two minutes.

Here are some key features and tools you’ll find in Clash mode that can give you a huge edge:

  • Buy stations, which contain the following items:
    • Armor Plate: $500
    • Munitions Box: $1,000
    • Trophy System: $1,500
    • Counter UAV: $3,000
    • Sentry Turret: $3,000
    • Hand Cannon: $4,000
    • Bunker Buster: $4,000
    • Cluster Strike: $4,000
    • Precision Airstrike: $6,000
    • Specialist Perk: $10,000
  • Door Barricade (new field upgrade) – This new field upgrade lets you lock down single or double doors with a heavy-duty barricade. Only you or your squad can unlock it. Otherwise, enemies will need to blow it open with gunfire, explosives, or melee. It’s perfect for holding key positions or blocking flanks.
  • Hand Cannon (killstreak) – Originally from Black Ops 6 Multiplayer season one, the Hand Cannon is a rare ground loot in Clash. It’s a high-powered pistol with solid hip-fire accuracy and snappy handling, but it’s got a slow fire rate and limited ammo, so make your shots count.
  • SAM Turrets – These anti-aircraft and drone turrets are scattered around the map and can be activated for $1,500. Use them to shoot down enemy helicopters, though choppers can deploy flares to counter incoming missiles.
  • Train – If the Clash map includes part of Verdansk’s railway loop, you’ll find the loot-packed Train. Its carriages are great not just for looting but for cover as well.
  • UAV Towers – These towers can be found throughout the map and activated for $2,000. Once online, they’ll scan the surrounding area and ping enemy positions, which is super useful for pushing or defending objectives.

Warzone Clash mode power-ups

The mode features five unique power-ups that give you temporary boost. You’ll find them in loot caches or near eliminated enemies, and they activate automatically when picked up. Each one is color-coded and offers a different advantage:

  • Hunter (Red Aura): Highlights enemies and allies in red and blue, respectively. Allies are visible through walls. Applies Tracker and High Alert perks.
  • Speed Boost (Yellow Aura): Prevents fall damage and provides approximately 20 percent speed boost to your movement.
  • Regeneration (Green Aura): Refills your health and armor at roughly 20 percent per second. Allies within a small radius around you also receive this benefit. This effect does not stack.
  • Double Down (Blue Aura): Grants you two points per enemy elimination instead of one.
  • Kill Mag (Purple Aura): Refills your active weapon magazine after a kill and quickens your reload.

You can collect all five power-ups in a single match, and if the Power Surge event kicks in, usually near the end of the game, the drop rate of these power-ups gets cranked way up. So get ready to scoop them up and snowball your advantage.
