Warzone 2 Plunder release time as popular mode finally set to be introduced

Activision has confirmed that the popular Plunder game mode will make its grand return in Warzone 2.

Call of Duty players have been waiting a long time for Plunder to arrive in Warzone 2, since the game first launched back in November 2022 without the cash-centric mode from the original Warzone. Activision announced it would release during Warzone 2 Season 3 upon the season’s launch, but never mentioned when it would be arriving, instead labelling it with the vague ‘in season’. Luckily we won't have to wait much longer as the official release date for Plunder in Warzone 2 is confirmed, and it’s today!

Activision took to its @CallofDuty Twitter account to announce the big news late last night, that Plunder would be making its grand return today, here's when we expect Plunder will be available in Warzone 2.

Warzone 2 Plunder release time

Activision didn’t announce a specific time for the Plunder game mode to go live in Warzone 2, but it's safe to assume that the update will happen at 6pm BST / 1pm EDT / 10am PDT, as this is the usual time Warzone 2 updates go live, so be sure to get those one-shot sniper builds ready by then.

For those unfamiliar with the mode, Plunder challenged teams to make the most cash by completing objectives, opening caches and looting enemy players, with the first team reaching a specific amount being named the winners. While respawns are enabled, you’ll still want to be careful as you lose cash upon death, the same goes for wiping out enemy teams to collect their cash and put you in the lead.

C.O.D. rules everything around me

Plunder should hopefully pump some much-needed life into Warzone 2, which seems to be struggling to keep afloat nowadays. Especially with contemporaries like Fortnite continuing to succeed and grow with smart new gameplay mechanics, and new titles like XDefiant gunning for Warzone’s spot with its fresh take on the FPS genre. While Warzone 2 Season 3 has made some smart changes, it needs a big hit to revive it, and hopefully, Plunder will be just the thing.

Speaking as someone who played a tonne of the original Warzone and almost immediately bounced off of Warzone 2, I’m excited Plunder is coming back. It was one of the best game modes in the original game thanks to its more chilled-out atmosphere – due to unlimited respawns and survival not being the main focus – while not being quite as hectic as Resurgence which also offered unlimited respawns.
